Who Really Owns a Print? African Design and the IP Question

A single ankara-style print can pass through a dozen hands — designer, mill, retailer, fast-fashion buyer — before anyone asks where the pattern originated.

Until that changes, credit will keep flowing to whoever markets the print best, not whoever made it first.
